Why does a church like ours not have a choir? No one seems to know. Some interesting statistics show that choirs are a dying trend in America. In 1998 54% of all American churches had choirs but by 2012 it had dropped to 45%. And in Evangelical churches it went from 69% to 36% for the same period of time.
Is there really no one in San Antonio who can arrange music and play a piano and who can hear parts and choose good songs for a choir of men and women to sing? Or are choirs relics of a bygone era to our Pentecostal sensibilities? Sister Mitchell sang in the Prescott choir for many years. She did not run it.
I bet there are people in our church who would love to sing in a real choir.
