"When the Lord brought back the captivity of Zion, we were like those who dream." Psalm 126:1
Has the Lord ever done anything for you that you did not expect and that left you amazed and in awe? Have you ever had to simply say, I do not deserve this? I have.
God is able to do things that leave us feeling like we are in a dream. Things that change the course of our lives and turn darkness to light. To fill us with joy and gladness.
"Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing." verse 2
We do not always expect God to work for us. We never deserve the grace that is freely given to us. But God loves us and God is willing to make His grace be greater than our needs and our sins. He is able and willing to do more than we can even imagine.
"The Lord has done great things for us, and we are glad." verse 3
My prayer is what the Psalmist utters in verse 4. "Bring back our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south."
The promise is based on God's goodness and mercy. He is faithful to help us, and to never forsake us.
"Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy." verse 5
By the way, this Psalm is not about the act of dreaming. It is when life seems like a dream compared to how it was a minute ago!
