From the days of radio preachers to the modern era of pastors on television we see what I call the celebrity pastors. These men are listed as the pastor of a local church. They are in great demand around the world to speak at conferences and to speak at other churches. They write books and produce television shows and they are somewhat famous in their circle of influence.
We, in our Fellowship, have pastors who travel a lot. They are the senior pastors of one of our churches. Their success has made them be in demand to speak in rallies or revivals or in conferences or to do crusades. They are gone from home a lot. They rely on their staff to do most of the day to day work of pastoring a church.
The big difference between the celebrity pastor and our pastors is one is in demand and is revered by many. The other carries the burden of maintaining and expanding the Fellowship vision of evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. One is very wealthy and well known. The other spends a fortune to do what needs to be done.
Pray for your pastor if he is gone a lot. He needs the Lord's help to do what needs to be done. Pray for those on staff who are available for prayer or advice or counseling any time, day or night. And ask the Lord what you can do to minister to those around you every Sunday morning.
