"how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him." Acts 10:38
I have written about this many times before, so I will not belabor this idea again today. Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus born of the virgin, the real flesh and blood Jesus, did what he did because God was with him and because God anointed him with the Holy Spirit. Jesus of Nazareth did not do what he did because he was God in the flesh.
People who say that Jesus was God before the resurrection say it to make excuse for their lack of power in the Holy Spirit. They are often Christian Humanists. They take certain Bible truths and add them to their humanist philosophy. They do not speak in tongues. They do not heal the sick. They do not raise the dead. They do not deliver the captives. They rely on human ability and charisma.
We as Pentecostal followers of Christ, need to contend for the greater works that Christ said we would do by the power of the Holy Spirit. Speaking in tongues in prayer and worship is a start. If you do not speak in tongues you are missing the one thing that defines us as genuine followers of Christ.
"For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, can anyone forbid water, that these should be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?" Acts 10:46-47
Peter the apostle said that speaking in tongues identified these gentiles as genuine Christians, just like Peter was. He did not mention that they had accepted Christ as savior, but he heard them speak in tongues, and then he baptized them in water.
We are obligated to search the scriptures to find out if what we believe and who we are lines up with the ancient revelation. Unless you think that you are smarter than God.
