Wednesday Ramblings

Wouldn't it have made life easier if ancient people had written down everything that they knew? Maybe they did and it is lost to history. Adam named all of the animals, but we do not know what he called them. Didn't it occur to him to keep a record of important things like this?

Perhaps before sin corrupted mankind, we had superior mental power and we could remember and recall things that today must be written down. No doubt Moses, to write down history contained in the Bible, received this information through oral retelling of the beginning of time. That might explain why it sounds so simple to read the first three chapters of Genesis. Moses wrote down the story as it was not only inspired but remembered by the ancients.

The fall of man in the Garden was more profound and catastrophic than we understand. Man went from being the ruler of planet Earth to being a servant scratching out a living. It is not until the new heaven and new earth that we as human beings will once again enjoy that status and ability that Adam and Eve had in the Garden.

Sin is not just drinking and smoking and fornicating. It is a fall from place and a loss of status and a lack of dominion. Jesus went to the cross to satisfy God's demands, not to make us better people. We will be better people in eternity.
