Last night pastor Rubi preached on the fear of God. Here are some thoughts on the fear of God.
"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear." Heb.12:28
First of all, the fear of God is not being afraid of God. It is having a healthy reverence for God. It means showing God respect in our actions and our speech.
Secondly, the fear of God is the main requirement for service.
"You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve Him, and to Him you shall hold fast. and take oaths in His name." Deut.10:20
To serve the Lord correctly you must first have a healthy fear of God.
Third, the Bible tells us that the fear of God is the way to wisdom.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction." Prov.1:7
Fear can be a great motivator. Fear can be a great instructor. Fear and respect are the ground floor of our relationship to Christ.
