Leaping From the Pinnacle of Success

More men leap from the pinnacle of success than die in the valley of despair. Why is this?

One reason is that when you are desperate and not seeing results you tend to ask for God's help more. At least for a while. It is possible that, failure for a long time will make a man lose heart and give up. But since you have nothing to lose there is a chance that you could task a risk that other's may not take.

Another reason is that successful men think that they did something right that caused their success. They are the man, without whom nothing would have happened. Ego gets involved. They think that if God was not pleased, they would not be seeing good results.

We have been told that the key to church growth is the man. We blame the man when it doesn't work. When it does work we ask him to headline a conference. And then we are surprised when the successful man fails in sin and rebellion. We are sad when a failure quits, but we are outraged when a successful man fails.

Every man has his unique place and gift from God. We must be diligent to fulfill our unique calling no matter what or where that calling is.

The wonder of it all is when God finds the right man for the right job amazing things can happen. It still is a work of God and not man isn't it?
