I'm glad we have our home Bible study tonight. When you live alone you are glad for every opportunity to get together with your church family for fellowship. Yes, we do hear Bible truth. But it is the fellowship that I love the most. We do have food. But fellowship is why I look forward to these gatherings.
Church meets many needs in our lives. It's not just the preaching, it's the gathering. To sing in a corporate setting, to worship out loud with brethren, to see friends and family. But fellowship is important too.
I see a pattern in my thoughts. While we need ministry that speaks to us, we need fellowship with people of like, precious faith just as much. People are dying from loneliness around the world. You know when I get lonely? On Friday nights when there is no home Bible study.
I have been saved over 50 years. I rarely get tired of the assembly on any level. God is not limited to the times when we are gathered together to help us. But there seem to be things that God only does when we are gathered together.
"When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting." Acts2 1-2
"...Now, therefore, we are all present before God, to hear all the things commanded you by God." Acts10:33b
"For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them." Matthew18:20
