Pastor Rubi Post Election Sermon

Pastor Rubi preached an excellent post-election sermon last night. Magnanimous in Victory. How that, just as we learn how to bear up in a loss, we need to learn how to win. In loss we do not threaten or accuse or lash out at the winners. In winning we do not gloat or get puffed up in pride and think that we are better than our opponent.

It is human nature to react to circumstances in certain ways. It does not make us crazy, it makes us human. But as Christians, we are called to a higher standard of behavior. And we are empowered, by the Holy Spirit, to speak and act differently than those around us. We shine as lights in the world when we live and speak and act in contrast to normal human nature.

This does make us better than them. But it is not by anything that we can do on our own. It is God, working in and through us, that makes us different.

"For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." Philippians 2:13

So, whether your candidate won or lost on Tuesday, God is still working His will among people, families, and nations. We can trust in Jesus today.
