Pray, Don't Fret

This is the last time that I will write about this election. I have lived long enough to know that one election changes nothing and fixes nothing. One man has very limited power to do anything legally. But to listen to everyone around me, you would have thought that we were electing someone to sit at God's right hand.

No modern president has given anything but lip service to our faith. He might be a Christian. but he does not attend church or pay tithes. He certainly does not speak in tongues or heal the sick. All he does is sign or veto laws passed by Congress. He does nothing to help us, and unless God allows it, he has no power to hurt us.

Our only Biblical mandate is to pray for those in power over us. Pray for the president whether you voted for them or not.

I suggest that we declare a moratorium on politics in our churches. Stop joining the chorus of doom and gloom. We seem to find it easier to think that a president can save us than that God can help us.

Did you know that our country almost did not survive the turbulent 1960's? Revival was the only thing that kept us from going headlong into chaos. Nothing happening today even comes close to that destructive generation. All of the social and moral ills today were born in the 1960's.

So pray. Stay focused on what God is doing.

It's always darkest just before dawn. When the outlook is bad, try the uplook!
