Asleep In The Storm

 "Now when he got into a boat, his disciples followed him. And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered by the waves. But He was asleep." Mat.8:23-24

First, life has storms. Great storms. Life threatening storms. Do not be surprised when you find that Jesus is asleep during your storms.

Second, Disciples are followers. They went where Jesus went. They went where Jesus said to go. They would become leaders. But in the local church they are just followers.

Jesus asleep during the storm bothers some well meaning saints. Did he care? Was he unaware?

First, Jesus was a hard working man who saw the value of taking a nap. He didn't have a phone to intrude. He wasn't checking his email. Jesus was tired and he took a nap.

Second, we find that Jesus does not freak out just because you are freaking out. He has an answer to your problem. He knows what to do even though you don't. 

Third, Jesus says that this whole story exposed a faith problem with the disciples. 

"But he said to them, why are you fearful, O you of little faith?...:" Mat.8:26

The disciples didn't get it yet. Do you get it yet?
